Oni Creation Guide

befitting the setting, Trolls are not the Trolls of Homestuck, but Oni.

They come in two skin colours, Blue and Red, which is completely random (they breed the same way Alternian Trolls do) and therefore your choice, but it'd be great if there was an even balance. Their horns vary in colour from Ivory, to Ochre, to Ebony (your choice) and vary in shape. The shape should look be befitting their Zodiac animal or the Japanese Character of the sign.

Names should probably reflect their Signs in the same manner the Alternian Trolls do theirs. The names should also sound Japanese. just a few simple Wikipedia reads can help you get that right.

For the most part their culture is somewhat the same as the original trolls, that is, they have the same social hierarchy based on Hemospectrum, and a very violent nature, However their social classes aren't the same. There is no Subjugglators or any of that "nonsense", but there is Ronin, and Shinobi, and Daimyo's and all that.

as I said Oni Skin Colour isn't determined by Blood, and is random, however it does bring in a whole new social system. All Trollmances (Matespritship, Moirallegiance, Kismesissitude) except for Auspistice are only Red and Blue Oni's as befitting the old ideas of Red Oni's and Blue Oni's. i.e. a Red Oni will ALWAYS be a Matesprite, Moirall, or Kismesis to a Blue Oni, and vice versa.

We are acting on the Fancanon that Trolls / Oni do not have sexes, and instead their genders are determined by a mental choice, and their physiology changes to reflect that, giving them a Masculine or Feminine build (or quite frankly they COULD choose to be Androgyne). Because of this, they have pretty much no sexuality based on gender, however it is based on Skin Colour. Red is closest to stereotypical Male, Blue is closest to Stereotypical female, but that does mean that most "Boy" oni are Red Skinned. just that all Red Oni have dominant personalities, where as Blue Oni have submissive personalities. You can see why Homospectrum (Red x Red, or Blue x Blue) rarely occurs. Plus it's a Feudal Japan like Society, so that would be strongly discriminated against as not fitting societies values. but Social Outcasts always make good characters, if you come up with a good reason for you Blue Oni to be loud and strong-willed, by all means do it.

The Oni make no difference between Aquatics and Land Purples. both are Nobility, however the Shogunate is determined by whoever is the militarily dominant Daimyo, and the Aquatic happens to be the most militarily dominant. If a Land Purple Daimyo rose up with enough support, they'd become the Shogun.

Make sure your Lusii are based on animals seen in Japan or legendary creatures from Japan (even better if your lusii somehow fits your Zodiac).

If you attempt to roleplay any of their cultural concepts at all without my prompting, make sure you've read up on Japanese Fuedalism, because thats what it'll be based on. Technologically they are equal to the normal Alternia Trolls, but culturally they are a mix of modern Japan and Feudal Japan.

also you might want to learn about how complicated the Chinese Zodiac is (everyone actually falls under 4 different animals and an element and other things, making their be 103,680 possible combinations a person might be, and the Oni take their Zodiac's VERY seriously. Their planet is called Oniwakusei, which in Japanese literally just means Oniplanet (or in one translation of the word Oni, Trollplanet).

Oni ages are weird, and though they've all been born on different years (as determined by their zodiac) they are all still the Oni equivalent of 14 (fuck biology)

Rat, Ox, and Boar are Aquatic, as they are Fixed Element Water. Oni biology does not require all Aquatics to be born under those signs, I was just using them to determine who OUR Aquatic Oni will be.

Make their name sound Japanese, and I suggest giving your character a Japanese Sentence Ender (like -ttebayo, de aru), check with the others to see whats already used.

Basically when playing the Oni, think Alternia Trolls meets Japanese Feudalism.

Also, yes Buckets are very perverse, as are Tentacles, and yet at the same time... highly desirable. (kekekekeke).

also, of note, Ask about aspect, we're trying to not have any more than 2 of every aspect. Same with Class, also when you pick your class, note I'm going to Japanify it.
